Facing History: Autism
The Facing History activity I most connected with was the one on autism. We got to hear speakers who deal with autism in real life. Hearing what it is really like from some of my peers was more meaningful than watching a video randomly found online. I learned that there are a variety of views on the subject, ranging from acceptance as a gift to something detrimental. It resonated with me because these were my friends. I had always thought that autism was so far away from my life, but it’s not. After the presentations, we got to make puzzle pieces to put together in one big banner. Mine was colorful and happy with some song lyrics written on it.
